WELCOME TO ART GALLERY OF FREEDOM

About me

As an artist I have used my creative expression to challenge the status quo and advocate for human rights. I was born and raised in Belarus, a country with a rich cultural heritage but also a history of political repression. In 2005, I made the courageous decision to leave Belarus and moved to Norway. The move allowed me to escape the oppressive environment and continue my academic and artistic pursuits in a more open and supportive setting. In Norway, I delved into the study of democracy and human rights. My academic journey led me to explore the complexities of human rights issues, particularly within the context of Belarus. My thesis “Perspectives on Human Rights in a Local Context” focused on the human rights and democracy situation in Belarus.

MY VOICE

As a passionate and introspective artist, I find my voice through surrealistic paintings. My canvas becomes a mirror reflecting my emotions, dreams, and curiosities. The human body, with its intricate contours and vulnerabilities, serves as both muse and medium. Through vivid colours and distorted forms, I explore the depths of existence, inviting viewers to question reality and embrace the enigmatic.

I am not only an artist, but I am also an activist. Firstly, I would like to address the human rights issues to contribute to alleviating suffering, promoting peace, and preventing war. As a visual medium, my art can communicate powerful messages even to those who may not be experts in the subject matter. I would like to use my art to bring people together, to promote social cohesion and encourage collective action for positive change.

Secondly, I would like to explore how art can positively impact mental and emotional well-being. My artworks can become a source of comfort and reflection for those who have experienced trauma. Additionally, it can provide solace, express emotions, and foster empathy. I hope that artworks can offer hope and healing to both survivors and viewers.

EXIBITIONS

Melahuset, an Oslo-based organization, recognized my talent and invited me to participate in three group exhibitions. These exhibitions allowed me to showcase my dissenting voice and connect with fellow artists who shared my passion.
